Rot
Instruction score below (pdf)
Rot primarily deals with acousmatic listening and movement of sound from source to source. Performers perform behind the walls of the performance space and their sound is routed to various speakers in surround. Sounds move from a single speaker, to multiple speakers, to acoustic performance as the audience's listening experience is ruptured by the performers banging on the walls.
Both pre-recorded sounds and live sounds emanate from the speakers, ambiguity in how the piece is perceived until the ending shatters the reality of the electronic reproductions.
The piece uses an instruction score, heavily influenced by my performing in Alvin Curran's Beams earlier this year.
